DIVERSIFYING THE NATIONAL ENERGY MARKET

While governments have an important role to play in the transition to renewables, organisations such as CETF demonstrate the valuable contributions the private sector can make in securing Australia’s energy future.

We continue to participate in the further diversification of the National Energy Market by identifying and supporting high-quality wind and battery storage projects in multiple locations. Some of our current projects are listed below.

Project Hive

Project Hive is an innovative, scalable and distributed battery energy storage project that is capable of being rapidly deployed and performing multiple critical market functions. Through Project Hive, we are seeking to distribute critical battery infrastructure and deliver a groundbreaking approach to battery energy storage management.

This scalable project, initially targeting the development of up to 200MW/800MWh of distributed battery energy storage in Phase 1, is an innovative way to rapidly deploy batteries where they are needed most and across time horizons that meet local requirements.

Project Hive will provide distributed storage at a scale that is connected and coordinated at an average of 5MW per site, with an initial 40 sites in New South Wales (200MW in aggregate) and with equivalent growth pathways planned for Queensland and Victoria.
